On a Date With The Unfathomable

Like infinite black sequins vibrating and shimmering under headlights in a fashion show, dark waves are sparkling under moon light as water rears high crashing ashore. The beach is beautiful, even more under a full moon night. The sky is dark but not. I am solemnly seated adjacent to a dilapidated boat, unmoving with my sand covered black converse shoes facing the horizon. There’s plenty of space here. All I see is soothing moonlight gleaming on water surface and empty night sky till the farthest distance my eyes can scan. Cool wind gently brushes my lacklustre face, leaving my lips salty. I can breathe with ease here. There is nobody around me but for the zillion footprints on sand. The beach has more or less remained the same with plenty of unheard tales to recite. Louder the waves road, calmer the ambience gets. I have nothing to think about but endlessly watch one wave after the other till it retreats back into the sea. I am more at home while seated in moist sand.

I am trying to write down this moment in my phone. My mind is constantly wavering before it once again gets lost in the beauty that I am facing - an attractive one indeed. I can hear the sea calling me. I stand up and walk towards the water. Like Shirley Toulson describes in her poem, the sea which has hardly changed over the years washes my terribly transient feet. I am on a date with the unfathomable waters, drinking whiskey. I love you beach.

I went back home unsure of if I returned to or left behind where I belonged to. I played the song Chandelier by Sia and started playing with paints and brush. For once, it didn't matter to me if I was getting the hues and lines right. It didn't bother me if I was doing it right, because there is probably no right way to do something when it already gives you the right feeling. In not more than five minutes, I recreated the moment on paper with raw paint strokes. It’s definitely not the best painting that I have made but it is by far the one with an impulsive and fearless approach, simply because I really had no approach before I started painting it.

Of course, I didn't stop with the painting. The fashion designer in me went on to use it as a print and dress up celebs from British Fashion Awards 2014 red carpet... lol! Do let me know about how good or horrible they are :P
