Chat with Rocky S at Blenders Pride Fashion Tour 2011

The Blenders Pride Fashion Tour kick-started in New Delhi at hotel Taj Palace with Rocky S opening for the fashion event. The show featured a mix of menswear and womenswear. While one would associate the Rocky S menswear clothing with neat and clean cuts in timeless color palette of black, grey and nudes with a  dash of deep red infusing energy into classic pieces, womenswear was more about surface ornamentation of self on self embroidery, textures and crystals. The collection on whole features sturdy, structured and fashioned evening wear for both men and women.


It was after the post show press conference that I could get hold of him for a small chat. While the press conference was totally irrelevant and had nothing to do with fashion and was much of a Bollywood affair where people wanted to know if rumours about Angela Jonnson's (showstopper) link up with Salman Khan is true or not!




Here are some encrypts from the conversation I had with the fashion designer:

Me: What would be the ONE WORD to describe your collection?
Rocky S: SPECIAL.
Me: Special? 
Rocky S: Red carpet is not just confined to women. This collection features some new basics for men like the modern cut suits... It's for special occasions. I would call it SPECIAL!
Me: Can you tell us about the surfaces you have used?
Rocky S: Well... I have used lots of velvet, satin and jacquard with lots of surface treatment. Crystals and embroidery are evident in almost every other clothes.
Me: The last question is about colours. You have used lots of BLA...
Rocky S: BLACK. I love black. It's the colour for every season! Black is classic.


Rocky S gave this appreciating pat on my back probably because I was the only person who asked him something relevant, something that involves fashion!
