Gareth Pugh’s models walked with fierce red cross painted on their face six months ago at AW15 catwalk. This time, the models’ face was covered with nude stockings featuring anatomical details such as eyes, brows and pout painted onto it. Wigs in red, white and black further exaggerated the head. Such drama queens, huh? Gareth Pugh is no stranger to theatrical explorations but his SS16 show offered a hint of retro glam too. As nod to the disco trend, the clothes were just as dramatic as the styling itself. Star-shaped sunglasses teamed with diagonal stripes in flared silhouettes combined retro vibe with futurism. Gareth Pugh’s SS16 runway saw fiery red hue took over the garments along with his signature black and white. Voluminous bows and shimmery coins in copper stood out as bold and fresh details in Gareth Pugh's runway. Dazzling pennies infused some interesting contrast in textures when paired with leather and fabric. The silhouettes were typically that of Gareth Pugh but the mood that they garments infused was something new. Overall, Gareth Pugh’s creations invoke strong and peculiar reactions (as usual). In past we’ve see the Gareth Pugh woman as a warrior, as goth and even as sci-fi characters. For SS16, the Gareth Pugh lady wants to go out dancing with you... Would you dare to accept this glam-and-freak deal? It’s a strange coincidence that George Michael’s Careless Whisper is playing in my VLC as I write this.
