How can someone not be in awe of Sabyasachi Mukherjee? That craftsmanship…. damn, how many hours does it take to make those garments? Is there a part of fabric that didn’t require handwork? Every time I see a Sabyasachi creation, only word I utter is – WHOA! Thanks to Band Baaja Bride, Sabyasachi Mukherjee is a popular Indian household name. People from different geographic locations went in awe of his creations when I shared his latest prêt collection in a Facebook sewing group with up to 10K members. He’s got 500K+ Instagram following. Sabya is an international phenomenon. The iconic red soles of French footwear maestro Christian Louboutin went on to add jazz to Sabyasachi’s gorgeous trousseau line at Amazon India Couture Week a season ago. You could already sense what smells like a collaboration… and it happened!

Sabyasachi Mukherjee and Christian Louboutin have come together to design shoes for the Indian groom. The shoes have ornate embroidery in Sabyasachi’s signature style and red soles, because Louboutin, duh! The news imply that Indian grooms now have two luxury designer shoes, one in tan and another in black with exquisite zardozi embroidery.
However, this isn’t the first time an international giant has made customized design for Indian wedding market. Sabyasachi x Christian Louboutin actually has similar colour palette and ornate golden surface as that of Tod’s limited edition Indian wedding moccasins which were released a year ago at DLF Emporio. Which one would you wear? Tod’s? Or Sabyasachi x Christian Louboutin? Nevertheless, we want more of these limited edition products for Indian markets!
